Odds and Ends!
*New hot lunch item: Each day a chicken patty is available for hot lunch in addition to pizza, salad bar, and the lunch A and B options for the day! Yum!
*Classroom collection: We are always collecting soup labels and box tops. Last year, my class won a pizza party. I know we can do it again!
*Donations needed: In our classroom we take a lot of photos for our end of the year memory books. If you would like to help out, please send in disposable cameras and film. I also need volunteers to take the film to be processed. Thank you in advance for your help!
*Also, we started our Goodie Ticket Turn-In each Friday, where students can turn in their earned tickets for prizes. We are always in need of toys (little stuffed animals, notebooks, pens, pencils, stickers, etc) for the prize box! Thanks!

A Look Ahead!
Mrs. Olsen's Language Art Classes:
Reading: We will review Dogzilla and take a short vocabulary quiz on Monday, 9/8. Your child should have a list of the words in their reading folders. We will continue to work on visualizations as we begin reading our first book, Ten True Animal Rescues. We will be making comic strips to tell the important parts of the story.
English: The students will continue to learn about a sentence as we learn about statements, questions, exclamations, and commands. We will also work on puncutation and day of the week abbreviations. Also, students will be sharing their ME bags on Monday and Tuesday.
Spelling: This week we will have our first pretest. We are on List 2. The final graded test will be on Friday, September 12th.
Mrs. Olsen's Homeroom:
*Science: The students are learning more about the human body. We have covered the skeletal system and now we will focus on the muscular system.
*Social Studies: Never Eat Soggy Waffles! The students are busy practicing the compass rose and directions. There will be a short quiz covering the cardinal and intermediate directions on Wed. 9/10. A study guide was sent home today. We will learn the continents and oceans next.
*Handwriting: We are working on reviewing the lowercase letters. We will work on 2 letters a day.
Mrs. Olsen's Math Class:
*Students are learning about place value and 3, 4, 5, and 6 digit numbers. We will be learning the different ways to write a number, including the standard form (34), written form (thirty-four), and the expanded form (30+4). The Chapter 1 test is scheduled for Tues. 9/16.
