Odds and Ends: 

Countdown to 4th Grade: We we get ready for summer and 4th grade, we will celebrate the last days of school with a Spirit Day countdown: 

Tuesday, 5/29 - Crazy Socks

 

Wednesday, 5/30 - Crazy Hair 

Thursday, 5/31 - Favorite Vacation Shirt and PJ/Stuffed Animal Day ( a PAW prize chosen by another 3rd grade student)

Friday, 6/1 - Hats & Shades 

Monday, 6/4 - Fancy Pens

UPCOMING EVENTS: 

This is it! Our final full week together in 3rd grade!! (However, we do still have school on Monday, June 4th until 11:00). This Monday is Memorial Day, so no school. 

Chromebooks, cases, and charger cords will be checked in and collected on Tuesday, May 29.  Students will still use their Chromebooks in class, but we won't be taking them home after Tues. PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD'S CHARGER TO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY! THANK YOU!

Science: End of the Unit Mystery Science Test: Animals through Time

A LOOK AT NEXT WEEK: 

Spelling: We are done!

ELA: We finished The One and Only Ivan. It is one of my favorite books. Ask your child all about it. We will continue to do some Ivan activities. 

The May reading log is due on May 30! No exceptions!

Science: We will review the last science unit on Tues. We will take the test on Wed. A study guide was sent home to help your child prepare. 

Math: Today was your child's last day of math. It has been a pleasure being your child's math teacher this year. I have enjoyed working with each one of the students! I will hand back their final tests next week.  Please make sure your child practices their math facts over the summer so they are ready for 4th grade!

Week of 5/14

Thank you for a great week of Teacher Appreciation! We are so lucky to have such a great community to teach in and we felt so loved with the yummy treats all week. I am so lucky to have such awesome students and parents! Thank YOU for a wonderful year together!

UPCOMING EVENTS:

* Thurs. 5/17: Brookfield Zoo field trip: Pack a disposable lunch and dress for the weather and walking!

*Fri. 5/18: Early Dimissal
Spelling: 3 activities and test (final list of the year!)

A LOOK AT NEXT WEEK:

*Reading: We will focus on The One and Only Ivan as we prepare to visit real gorillas at the Brookfield Zoo.

*English: We are working on argumentative writing and narrative writing review.

*Spelling: This is our final list of the year. 3 activities are due on Fri. 5/18. Many students turned in their homework pass so they may not have any spelling homework. The test is on Fri. 5/18.

*Social Studies/Science: We are wrapping up our unit on Chicago. We will begin a mystery science unit on animals.

*Mrs. Olsen's Math Class: We are beginning the lessons in Unit 7 that focus on fractions. We will continue to practice greater digit multiplication.  This is a great skill to practice at home and over the summer!

UPCOMING EVENTS: 

*Mon. 5/7: Reading Benchmark Testing

* Wed. 5/9: Chicago Quiz #3

*Thurs. 5/10: Math MAPs test

A LOOK AT NEXT WEEK: 

*Reading: We will continue to work on The One and Only Ivan. We are also working on friendly letter writing as we write our 2nd grade pen pals, who will visit at the end of the month.

*Spelling: A new word list will come home on Monday.

* Social Studies: We are finishing up our Chicago unit. We will take our last open note quiz on Wed. 5/9. An orange study guide was sent home. If your child completes the study guide, they can use that on the quiz.

*Science: We are wrapping up our unit on Planets. We will have an open book, graded review next week. Our next unit with by a Mystery Science unit on animals.

*Mrs. Olsen's Math Class: We are working on greater number multiplication and fractions in Unit 7. We will also work on 8's division facts next week.
